December Bride

Thanks so much to Erik Leise for sharing these photos of another bride we had the pleasure of working with this past December. Erik and I worked a several weddings together in the last few months and I hope to have many more this year.

Meet Meghan. She and I had an unexpected surpass in common, we both got surprised with parades on our wedding days. Oh, yeah, parades. That is always a fun surprise but I am convinced that a parade on your wedding day is more good luck that rain.

What a beautiful bride! We really enjoyed working with all Meghans bridesmaids and her mom that day, they were really a great group.

In a few months, this fabulous bridesmaid will be one of our brides. Im excited to work with these girls again!

Oh, and thanks Meghan for introducing me to that new MAC lip color and gloss, Creme Cup and Deelight. It is my current daily lip color and makes me think of you, my fellow product lover!

Style Trends: Braids

Braids have been HUGE this year, for both casual and formal styles. I was thinking of doing a YouTube tutorial on how to DIY some braided styles, like the fishtail braid, shown below. I had a side braid in my hair in the Birchbox Video, did you like that one?

Personally, I love them. Whether you go with a small hidden little guy or a thicker braid, like the one shown below, braids can you fullness and texture.

At every event we do, pretty much every girl tells me before we start that they really don't want it slicked back, tight to the head. I find this amusing because, of course they don't want that, I don't know why they think I would do that to them. After all, it is not your 1st grade dance recital or prom in the 90s. I guess everyone has had a tragic experience having their hair done, so I smile and say ok.

But back to the braids, over time, I have posted some photos to the blog and created a board onPinterest of styles I like to use for inspiration. What do you think of this one?

Do you have an Ulta store where you live? Don't worry, if you don't you can always order online. Even better because then you don't even have to leave your couch, right?

Ulta is great because it is kind of like a Sephora, meets a department store cosmetic counter, meets the drugstore beauty aisle. Basically its heavenly. Oh, and they have hair products and accessories too!

Well, that was a HOT one!

Kristan's wedding was this past July and I swear this may have been the hottest day that I can remember there ever begin in my life. Trying to keep my cool, I headed to the Jefferson Hotel to do makeup for Kristan, her bridesmaid and her mom. Thankfully, their hotel room had the most glorious A/C so we kept comfortable.

Its Good Luck to Rain on Your Wedding Day....Right?

A huge thanks to PhotoLadyLove for sharing these stunning photos from a wedding we did last year. I remember this date well, it as back in May. We finished up the group and the bridal party headed off for photos and then to the Valentine for the ceremony.

Several hours later, I was getting ready to head out to see Amos Lee (OMG, love him) at The National, and there came a storm like no other. I was following tweets from the team at LK Events and Design all night tracking the progress of the event. The ceremony was beautiful and they were safely settle into the reception before the storm hit. From the looks of the photos, this crew did not let a little drizzle dampen their parade.

I think it is true, it is good luck to endure a little unexpected weather and give yourself the chance to enjoy the moment with the ones you love.
