WooHoo Its Friday!

Its Friday and that means its time to link up with Lauren for High Five for Friday link party!

This week been an adventure. Perhaps it was a test. If so, I think I got at least a B. I was hovering at a C- but then I got some extra credit. You see, I wanted to quit a few times. I sat down and had a good cry and had myself a pity party. After a few minutes, I decided that I can't quit because what I do is who I am and I don't want to be anyone else. A big old thank you to some excellent girlfriend who gave me some encouraging words this week.

I'm pretty sure this was all part what will eventually be in my E True Hollywood Story. They still do those, right? I think mine will be called, Emily Hudspeth... You can't keep a good girl down. Damn it. Or something like that.

So here we go....

#1. This could be my big break....but I need your help.
Im an applicant for the Chase/Living Social $250, 000 grant called Mission Small Business. You have probably seen a lot people talking about it because I think every business is trying to make it. This is where I need your help. I need 250 votes to be officially nominated. I am trying every angle, I made an elaborate blog post with specific directions on how to vote. I made a video on the YouTube channel to pitch myself. Since its pretty hilarious, I thought that would get me tons of votes. Here it is.. let me know what you think.

#2. I am grateful.

During chaotic and frustrating times, I have to stop and remind myself to focus on what I am thankful for. This week, I am thankful for my health, my family and my ability to shift my attitude in the right direction. I so thankful to the support of friends and family that keep reminding me that my big dreams will soon be a big reality. I am also thankful for the kindness of strangers who have given me some of the greatest wisdom and strength this week.  Thanks for the perspective.

#3. My first tornado
Speaking of things to be thankful for....this week I experienced my first tornado. This was quite a surprise. While I was a bit frustrated that my lot had the worst damage of our entire neighborhood. We can't say enough how lucky we were that none of those giant trees went thru my house. We only lost power for a few hours (some were not as fortunate).
I swear it doesn't normally look like this.
My doggies were ok, and safely in the house when this happened. They got quite the scare.  When I finally got home, there were 6 men from the neighborhood with chainsaws, working so hard to get the tree off my front porch so that I could get in the front door.  These men and my husband worked on clean up until it got dark. Everyone worked so hard and it was so nice to see the neighborhood come together like that. I am grateful.

Hurricanes and earthquakes I can do, I never want to see another tornado again. You are right Dorothy, there is no place like home.

#4. NYC
I went to NYC to work on a photo shoot this week. I love so many things about the city. One of those things street food. So many food trucks, so little time! There was a little cupcake truck but I resisted, if you can believe that!

#5. Speaking of treats
'Tis the season to work my ice cream maker over time. This week, I made this really awesome recipe from Whole Living magazine. It was made with ricotta, sugar, heavy cream, vanilla and lemon zest. Then I mixed in some strawberries at the end. And of course I covered it with the DIY magic shell from last week's H54F post. In case you missed out, its right here!

More importantly, what are you excited about? I love comments (THE MOST!) , tweets, Facebook updates and any other way you want to update me on the exciting things that you have going on. How was your week? Do you have any plans for the weekend?

I have some exciting plans  and they involve costumes and dancing, so I can't wait to share that next week!

Help me hit the 250 mark to be officially nominated!
