Coconut Oil continued

There have been a few times that I have mentioned coconut oil on the blog. First, my DIY spa day, when I made that awesome body scrub and hair mask. Now that was a treat. Then when my girlfriend introduced me to her Pinterest discovery of making your own Magic Shell type ice cream topping. I stand corrected....THAT was the real treat.
Yesterday, one of my favorite bloggers, MizFit posted about her journeys with coconut oil. I met MizFit at that Fitness magazine blogger event and I just adore her. She has great energy and I love that she is so open to sharing her knowledge. Check her out, you will be inspired and probably laugh your ass off a little too.

In the MizFit post, she referenced another great blog post about coconut oil that you can check out here. I didn't even know that you could use coconut oil for so many things! Here some of the tips that I will be trying out and reporting back on my experiences.

- Massage into tired/sore/achy muscles
- use as a mascara wand cleaner
- brush onto eyelashes to strengthen and condition lashes
- prevent stretch marks (on pregnant bellies)
- make an extra fluffy body moisturizer by whipping it with your mixer
- mix with nutmeg and apply to blemishes for 10-15 min the rinse
- mix with baking soda for a gentle facial scrub
- helps smooth wrinkles and shrinks pores
- 107 on her list says someone used it to get purple lipstick out of a green rug, so stain remover?
- feed to your dog to improve breath (Jasmine needs this!)
This is what my DIY beauty days look like. Just as glam as you imagined, right?
I want to know if you have used coconut oil, what is your favorite DIY remedy and which of these would you like to try?

  1. I was told to use coconut oil on thighs to prevent "chub rub" when running. (You know, when your thighs rub together and you get a rash). It works better than lotion because skin absorbs lotion too fast or it sweats off easily. I have yet to try, but I will on my next super long run to see how well it works.
