The First Day of the Rest of Our Lives.....
Some people thought this was just the craziest thing but at this point, I am used to that reaction. The Mr. and I were married in New Orleans last March. One day ago, yesterday. Since I didn't want to see each other before the big "walk down the aisle" moment, we didn't have the opportunity to take pictures around the city that day.
When I booked our fabulous photographer, Jason Cohen, I went all out and booked the packaged that came with the choice of bridals or engagement photos. I wasn't thinking about the logistics of this. You see, we lived in Dallas then moved to Richmond before the wedding. Jason is in Lafayette, about 2 hours from New Orleans. We were never in the same place until the wedding!
Then it hit me. Since I wanted pictures with Jeff around the city in the day light, I asked Jason if he would be willing to do a Day After session with us. Since he is pretty much awesome, he said yes and I was thrilled!
I love all of Jason's photos he did for us. These are some of my favorites, for many reasons. It was my first day with my husband. It was the first time that it was just the two of us (and 3 photographers and a videographer) enjoying each other and not stressing about the wedding. It was behind us and now we were married. I didn't care if we got a little dirty, I just wanted to have fun. And that we did.
We rode into the sunset on blue and pink cruisers, borrowed from some nice tourists. We had a little snack and Cafe Du Monde. We rode the ferry and the street car. We laughed and laughed and laughed. It was glorious and still is.
Thanks Jason. I love you Jeff. We are now into year 2 of married life.
I know, it is a little embarrassing that it took me a whole year to post these photos. I have been a little busy with the other 47 weddings that I did hair and makeup for last year after my own. Not to mention, I think a one year anniversary post is a perfect compliment to my flair for the dramatic. Right?
