May Birchbox

May Birchbox

Not going to lie, I was a little disappointed this month. Usually I am so excited that I immediately have to video the entire unveiling of the box and then report back with my reviews of the products. Since I was not overly impressed this go around, I didn't have the excitement that I typically deliver in my Vlog posts.

Thats ok. I still want to share what I got and my reviews.
The box was pretty, it was the special Gossip Girl edition.
 What did I get?

Bvlgari perfume-- Smells good. I am not crazy about non-pump dispensers. This is an accident waiting to happen in my world.

Ojon volumizing conditioner-- The last thing that my big, thick curly hair needs is volumizing. Haven't used it yet. Probably won't.

Stila waterproof sparkle eye liner--This liner, which i under the hair tie, perfume and conditioner in the photo is quiet nice. I don't typically wear waterproof but I do plan to use this in a tutorial that I am in the process of putting together for summer makeup. It is pretty, an olive green color and the sparkles are not too much. It is a bit sheer, I am going to try layering (you know I love that!) it over a brown pencil so that it is more opaque. My friend, Kristen, got a bronze color. I think that I would like that.

Twistband Hair Tie--I like the fun yellow color. I have one in black but it is fun to have a more festive color. I much prefer this as a wrist-let and an emergency tie back for my hair than an actual functional ponytail holder. It is nice that it doesnt really crease the hair but the downside of that is that it tends to slide out of my fro.
Dr. Jart tinted moisturizer--I realized that it was under all of the stuff in the above photo so it gets its own photo. I actually really liked this  BB cream and would potentially buy it. The sample was so small that there are only about 3 uses. A more deluxe side sample would have been great. I like to try products like this for at least a week before I invest. This was by far, the best thing in the box.

BONUS
The deal is that you get 5 products and usually a bonus. This month's bonus was stationary. You can see the purple xoxo card with the pink envelope. It is quite cute. I wonder who I will give it to.

I think next month may be my last Birchbox. Unless they wow me. Then I could consider extending my subscription. I am in the process of researching some other sample service options for us to play with. Do you have one that you love? Do you have one that you want to see me try for you?

A Friendly Reminder....
Have you done your homework (give me 3 words)? If you haven't, there is still time. This week, I asked for 3 words that you think of when you think of my brand. There is a reason behind this little exercise. I promise. This is not one of those times that I am fishing for compliments, I want to know what you really think.

Go here and comment on this post. I totally appreciate the feedback from people who have emailed, texted and commented on Facebook but in an attempt to keep them all together, please comment on the original post:)

Oh and speaking of Birchbox and Gossip Girl. Here is my video inspired by both.

What did you get? What was your favorite. Mine was the BB cream.

Here is my video from the April Birchbox.

  1. So, we got the EXACT same birchbox, with the exception of the hair tie... mine was orange. I wasn't totally wowed this time, but I do love a good eyeliner, and I can always use the hair tie. The perfume was a bit... ehh.. not my taste. I haven't tried the tinted moisturizer yet, but that's probably on the agenda for today.

    1. I think that was the general consensus that I am hearing. Not wowed. I want to know what you think of the BB cream. I loved it.

    2. Loved the BB cream! Perfect amount of coverage and it wears really well. I went to an outdoor graduation in it, and it didn't slide off. I tried layering the eyeliner like you mentioned, and I really liked it. I used a shimmery bronze pencil liner by Bare Minerals underneath and it was a little less green.

    3. I have a few other BB creams to try out so I am going to do a full BB post, this one is making its way to the top of the list. I would totally buy it.

  3. Overall, I have really enjoyed it. For $10 a month, it is a fun way to try new products. There have been a couple that I didn't love (this one was not the best but not he worst). There are a lot of new sample services and I am going to try a new one. I will let you know what I find! I think you should try one for a few months.

  4. My box was different, which I didn't realize could happen. I thought everyone got the same thing. Anyhow, I got the hair tie in peach (love it), the perfume, coral nail polish, a wrinkle cream and tinted body moisturizer. This was first month and overall I was pleased!

  5. Oh, good. Yes, Brittany. Your box should be customized to questionnaire that you filled out when you started. It is pretty on point usually. Glad you were happy!

  6. Yay! Thanks again for linking up!
I would be interested other programs like Birchbox. I think there's one called Test Tube but I think it is higher end stuff only and about $30/month. I think. Can't wait to hear what you discover!
