You know that High Five for Friday (linking with Lauren) is my favorite post of the week. It has been insane in the membrane around here and I had to skip last week. But this week, its on!

3. SHORTS
I love summer! However, I haven't worn shorts (other than running shorts) in just about forever and 2 days. Is it just me or is finding the perfect length (not too short or long) quite a challenge. Well, I have been on a mission for awhile but I found these babies at Old Navy yesterday and they were on special ($14, I think?). They are black linen, fancy, huh!
4. Good Old College Try
I am super terrible at polishing nails, my own and others. It is just not my gift. Even when I was in beauty school, I was terrible and 10 years later, I haven't improved. I can barely sit thru a professional manicure and have someone else do it. My friend, Jill, gave me some pretty nail polishes a few weeks ago and I have been on a mission to get better at this. I am finding it quite zen. Which is good, I guess, because I am still not the best polisher.
And I don't know how these nail bloggers do it, but taking a photo of your own hand is so hard! My right hand is not as ugly as my left but I can't operate the camera with my left hand. Ah, I guess there are worse problems to have.

I can't sit still after the polish and always ruin my nails! Dude and if I DO sit still, they chip like two days later and it seems like a waste! What the heck?!
ReplyDeleteI know, same here. I feel like it is such a big girl/fancy lady thing to do and I am committed to being a fancy lady one day.
ReplyDeleteShh, don't tell anybody, but I do my nails while I'm working. If you have dedicated computer/blogging/empire admin time, try it. I paint the 8 nails and let them dry before painting the thumbs, that way I can use my thumbs to scrape excess polish from the skin and cuticle. I dry about 5-10 minutes between coats and have even adapted the way I type to not have nails clicking the keys and I'm still work productive! Plus I have a theory that the quick movement of my fingers across the keyboard creates air movement that helps the nails dry.
ReplyDeleteI'm awful with nail polish. I try really hard and it usually looks good when I'm done... until I forget that I have wet nails and wreck it! Lately I've been forcing myself to sit with my arms out under our ceiling fan, and watch an entire 1-hour show, and it seems to be working (so far). :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! i can't wait to see the vid on monday :)
ReplyDeleteNell, as always, you are a flipping genius. I will test your theory and report back. LOVE YOU! I do the same thing, Niki! Molly, I will try to have it up on YouTube over the weekend and posted to the blog by Monday!
